Authorities and research institutions can continue to obtain Earth observation data via the platform and process it directly in the cloud. The project in this third phase continues the two predecessor platforms CODE-DE 2 and EO-Lab.
CODE-DE 3 combines CODE-DE and EO-Lab in a central platform and will also implement new technologies on this platform.
For many institutions, CODE-DE is already an integral part of their work. Authorities use CODE-DE to perform operational tasks, such as environmental monitoring or the payment of agricultural subsidies. In addition, numerous scientific projects based on Earth observation data have already been implemented, particularly in the field of AI (e.g. for detecting forest damage or monitoring dams).
The consortium implementing CODE-DE 3 consists of the Polish company CloudFerro S.A. (cloud, data and processing services) and the German company Urbetho CF GmbH (project management, user support and training services). Both were already involved in the previous projects.
CODE-DE 3 is funded by the German Space Agency at DLR with funds from the Federal Ministry of Transport (National Copernicus Integration Measure) and the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (National Programme for Space, Innovation and International Cooperation).
